News flash – modern education not focused on learning. The release of the Sutton Trust report last week made headlines across the UK, with the BBC, the Guardian, Times, Independent, and Sky News all covered the report (with their appropriate biases – have a look at the report to see what it says). Nothing new here, but it is great to see some mainstream news coverage for the message I’ve been hammering away at for a decade+.
It is unfortunate that the North American press managed to avoid any coverage of the report – but, it is from another country, and education in Canada and the US is completely focused on learning – NOT!
I’ll keep up my lonely crusade for learning to be moved to the centre of education here in Canada, and hope that there is some interest in how people learn. All I can do is try.
